Editing

Today and yesterday i have been doing the editing and have now completed it. I have had to edit a lot of the sound as when filming the sound of the cars was not taken into account. For instance the part when callum is walking up the driveway to Hannah's house the sound of the cars overpowers the sound of the video and its a distraction. Also when Hannah is in her room and the music is playing i found that the music was far to quiet. As i didnt want Hannah's voice on the phone to be booming i put the sound in frames and make the sound quieten when Hannah is talking. I overlapped the videos of hannah's and callums, however i made hannah's the main clip you will see be you will be able to hear callums voice. However when filming the other members in my group didnt time the phonecall so it didnt really match when answering but I have made it sound like hannah is talking over callum and then he gives up and shuts up. When callum knocks on the door it shows an overshoulder shot of hannah then the clip changes with a dissolve effect to an over shoulder shot facing callum. NOT FINISHED

SWOT Analysis

Strengths -

• We have done a lot of planning which will come in handy when we start filming on 4th November. We will still need to go over what we're doing when shooting but we will have everything we need including location and props.
• Our blog's are being completed everyday explaining our progress throughout that day. We have gone into a lot of depth in each of our blog posts and have been very explanitive. We have included pictures so our blogs have more than just a load of information. We've included pictures of our setting sich as hannah and callum's room and the road which callum will be walking down durhing filming.
• I have the programme we use in school to edit at home so i could touch up the video without having to be in school and finding computers with the editing software on. Over the weekend i will edit the videos on Premier Pro once i have gotten the clips off hannah.
• We make the most of what we've got, e.g we have changed some of our script as we will be filming in the rain however we think this will create emmotion in the video as it will go with the mood of the actors.
• We work on individual tasks so that we have different things to be getting on with instead of all of us doing one thing. E.G Callum- storyboard, acting. Hannah - Acting. Emma- script,filming. Lauren - editing.  

Weaknesses -

• As i live furhter away from the rest of my group it is hard for me to get over where we will be filming. So we've make compramises, i will be doing a lot of the editing as i know how to use the software, while they shoot.
• We had booked our camera last tuesday and yet we have only just gotten it yesterday because we've had our camera given away to a year 13 pupil and Miss Gibson didnt turn up the times we were meant to pick them up.
• As we didnt think we would have to shoot this week we can only shoot on friday as that is the only day the actors are free.

Opportunities -

• We have friends that are really good actors and have experience in video's which would help with making our video look most proffesional.  

Threats -

• As we can only book 1 camera at a time we cant shoot the different angles in 1 take. We will have to shoot twice and look out for any continunity errors.
• Somehow cameras can be taken by other people even if we have booked them first!
• With the nights becoming darker quicker it is going to be harder to get to our location after school before it becomes dark to shoot. We are not wanting the video to be in the dark as we wont be able to see the location properly.

Filming

Tonight on 4th November we will start our filming. As it is raining now we are hoping that the rain will stay for us so we can shoot. When callum is walking down the long road to hannah's we think it will be better if it's raining. This will emphasise the mood which is going on in the clip, it connotes sorrow. The weather will make the audience feel the emmotions that we want them to feel towards Callum and the whole situation.

Our setting

This shot will be of the action match, this is the front door that hannah will open when callum is knocking for her forgiveness. The shot will see hannah walk to the door and see callum standing there this will be an over shoulder shot of callum.

This is the table that hannah will put the flowers on that callum has came and given her, she will put them on the table once asing callum to come in.

 This is callums room which he will be video'd in when on the phone with hannah. this will be shown in a split screen as hannah will be on the other side.

This is Hannahs room which she will be shown on the phone to callum. The 2 shots will be used in a split screen this shows the difference in the 2 backgrounds.

This is the road that we will shoot callum walking down when going to hannahs to say sorry and give her flowers. We are hoping to have some rain which will emphasise the mood that is going on in the video.

Planning Our Continuity Task

In the holidays hannah callum and emma all went to hannah's house to do the planning for our video. As i was unable to entend the meeting they kept me posted with their ideas and i added mine. This took place on wednesday 27th October 2010. The idea was to get as much planned on this day as possible so we were ready to start shooting the week we get back to school on the 1st. When i was updated on their progress on that day i was informed that emma has written the script and callum had produced a storyboard on xtranormal and that i was going to do a lot of the editing as i know the software pretty well. It was decided that Hannah and Callum was to act as the arguing couple. This would be the easiest option to have people from our group acting as we have all worked as a group before and are very reliable. On thursday 4th November we start shooting at Hannah's house. This is a good idea because we wouldnt have to ask permission to shoot there and will save us time trying to find a place to shoot.

Below you can see the storyboard that callum has created using xtranormal and has been working around the script. The storyboard is not the exact match to the actual script, this is because with xtranormal you can only use a certain characters and voices so this cant be so close to the exact but we can try our best.

 

Below you can see the script that Emma has written it may be cheesy but its a great way to get the shots that we need for example when he is walking down the street to hannahs house we will then use the 180° rule.

Filming/Editing

When filming our movie we asked James Jordan and Abbas Ted to play the gangsters. They wore a suit, hat and tie as this made the roles more believable if they were in character. We chose to film our movie clip near a church and graveyard in Witton Gilbert as the area fitted in well with the script it gave it an airy. The area is rarely used apart from the odd few dog walkers and runners, which made filming slightly longer as we had to wait until there was nobody around so there wasn't any unwanted people in the shots. As there werent that many it meant we could shoot for as long as we needed. We also filmed in black and white to make the film look more authentic and believable, next time we will film in colour so we can choose between the two incase we want some colour back. As we have done the filming in black and white it means we cant go back to colour we can only make the black and white darker or lighter.We are now currently editing the shots in lessons and in our own time.

Storyboard

We are using xtranormal.com to do our storyboard on. This i think will explain our video more as we will be bale to add speech and movement to it. We also have the option to change the voices so each of them are different instead of just having the same voice for 2 different voices. It will cause movement for the people in the storyboard, we will be able to make them walk, run , ect

Opening Scene

It starts off with a shot of the earth and then comes out and moves along to show a ig out stretch of the galaxy. It shows two different space ships and then the close-up goes to the nearest space-ship. The music plating over the top is fast paced and there are people runnning around obviously panicing. The captain of the spaceship speaks on the overcom and anounces that they have lost the hard drive so they are gonna have to make a detour to planet earth.

My Movie Pitch

Genre - Sci-fi / western

Niel is the commander on the space ship, when he loses an important hard drive they realise it fell from the space ship down to earth. But the leaders on the enemy space ship know's where it has landed. Both enemy's are trying quickly to get to the hard drive first. When they go to earth the speed they travelled down causes them to go back to western times. Because of the cowboys and indians, its made it harder to get tot he hard drive as they have never seen anything like this so they have made a shrine to it and are worshiping it.
